Pawleys Island South Carolina
is a private, tranquil island, renowned for its’ historic summer inns and cottages, family beach and surf. The ambiance of the community is very laid back and serene, and sometimes the only events are crabbing off the crab dock and searching for seashells. During high tide, you can explore the salt marsh with your own kayak or rent one on the island, and fishing is available both in the surf and from the two marsh bridges that cross the island. Miles of walking and biking trails are available on Pawleys Island, and eight golf courses are located in the community, with many more in the near vicinity. Pawleys Island is home to the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens and just a short drive to Huntington Beach State Park. The Litchfield Country Club and Litchfield by the Sea is a tennis lover’s paradise and features USTA and regional tournaments throughout the year. The Carriage House Club hosts numerous special dinners and holiday events during the year, with the International Vintner’s Dinners being among the most popular. These dinners couple international cuisine with specially selected wines for each of the five dinner courses. A brief commentary accompanies each course of wine – always an entertaining and delicious event.

Other special events in the communities surrounding Pawleys Island include the following:
Annual Little River Blue Crab Festival – Held in May, this festival is located on the waterfront in historic Little River. This is the area’s largest festival and includes music, kids’ games and face painting, rides, food and arts and crafts fair.
Annual Sun-Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach – For over fifty years, the communities of the Grand Strand area participate in this weeklong festival held in the month of June. Some of the activities include watermelon-eating contests, sandcastle building contests, volleyball games and other beach games, a parade and Miss Sun-Fun pageant.
Annual Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo Competition – a tradition for over fifty years. Prizes are awarded for this competition that runs April 1st through October 31st. Enter your catch – from the surf, from the pier, inlet or deep-sea. Prizes equal over $10,000.
